KIM HOLLAND

Dallas/Fort WOrth TX, MISSION Coordinator

Kim grew up in Covina, California, in a sunny, beach-trips-and-Sunny D kind of childhood alongside her parents, older brother, and little sister. She was raised in the church, but outside of Sunday attendance, faith was more of a family assumption than something she'd made her own — she knew the right things to say without understanding much of what they meant. Despite the perpetual California sunshine, she struggled with depression from a very early age.

When Kim was 18, in the middle of her freshman year of college, her father died, and it felt like everything anchoring her had been cut away. Her depression deepened, and by her junior year she found herself in the darkest season yet — one that led her to question whether God was even real. She landed on "yes," but stayed there, more agnostic than anything, for years.

In her mid-20s, after moving to Atlanta, a friend invited her to a small church where she could finally ask her hardest questions out loud. She gave her life to Christ at 25 and was baptized. But when that church later dissolved and she tried to walk out her faith alone, she drifted into new age practices, pride, and a slow unraveling that led her into a relationship marked by abuse. In her desperation, she turned back to God's Word and begged for His help — and it was there that Jesus revealed the truth of her sin and broke her heart for Him. She repented, gave Him her whole heart, and the Lord delivered her from that relationship and planted her at Brookhaven Church in McKinney, Texas.

Kim studied English at the University of San Francisco and works full-time as a Senior Business Analyst. While serving as a volunteer leader in Brookhaven's student ministry, she was approached by the youth pastor about leading as the church's Collision Coach — which led to training under Ben and Taverly Wingo and, after a year of partnership, an invitation to join the team as Mission Coordinator. Having watched so much fruit come from Brookhaven's partnership with Collision, Kim is passionate about helping other local churches see what God can do through their students. She believes that if students grasp the truth of the gospel now and are equipped to share it with their peers, a fire for Jesus can burn in every student's heart — and she's ready to say yes to whatever it takes to see that happen.

Kim lives in McKinney, Texas, with her dog, Rosco. When she's not working or serving at church, she loves reading, crocheting, and spending time with friends.
