Sarah Gibbins
DFW Metro Executive Director
Sarah grew up in an amazing Christian home and knew all the right answers about Jesus—but her faith was more cultural than personal. By high school, it felt shallow and disconnected, and she was looking for something more.
At 17, Sarah graduated early and moved to Italy to study art. During that year, she experienced a traumatic assault that left her marked by fear, shame, and the lie that she was unprotected and alone. She carried that hidden pain for years, believing God had abandoned her.
In college, Sarah turned to many ways to cope with the pain, which only led to more shame. It became a prison. But in His kindness, God brought people who walked with her and helped her rediscover who Jesus truly is.
Twenty years later, Sarah found herself struggling again. In a time of desperate prayer, she cried out to Jesus. She had always asked Him, “Why did you leave me?” But this time, she started with the truth—He promises never to leave—and asked, “Where were You?” He showed her where He had been during that moment: protecting her, fighting for her, and delivering her. That encounter brought deep healing and broke the bondage she had carried for so long.
Because she had held years of trauma in her body, when she got COVID in 2020, it triggered POTS—a debilitating autonomic disorder that affects vision, memory, heart rate, blood pressure, and more. She couldn’t work or do daily tasks. After months of struggling, she cried out in prayer again. Jesus revealed she was believing that same old lie: “I’m alone, and God won’t protect me.” A friend prayed with her, and together they surrendered that belief and prayed healing over every system in her body. Sarah saw Jesus as a bright light, reaching toward her—and realized afterward that every symptom had disappeared. On August 7, 2021, she was completely healed. Praise Jesus!
Since then, Sarah has spent over 10 years in student ministry—discipling and empowering students, building student leaders, and creating student-led programs and events. Her passion is helping them know Jesus—not just in theory, but as the powerful, loving, healing Savior who sets us free.
She’s married to her college sweetheart, Matthew, and they have three amazing sons who love Jesus and are living out His call on their lives. Their family is living proof of God’s grace and restoration.
